Hummingbird Tongue Rings
Taper forging or "drawing a taper" is a classic blacksmithing process: a rod of metal is selectively hammered until it "grows" into a taper, longer and thinner at one end than the original rod or ingot. Well, the same can be done with gold, sterling bronze, brass or steel.
Each ring begins with an ingot which is forged and then bent. Even the tube and the delicate windings are made from ingots from often recycled and reclaimed scrap.
