smith: to smite or strike: to shape and define by hammering.
Jewelers and metalsmiths--all makers, really-- are by nature inquisitive and adventurous, reinterpreting form and function and exploring processes, materials and subject matter that can stretch way beyond the conventional notions of gold, silver, platinum and gemstones.
Today's metalsmithing and jewelry studio is a place where the anvil, computer and laser welder all coexist. The innovations of countless generations of goldsmiths, silversmiths, pewtersmiths and blacksmiths have given us the traditions of our field and their process of discovery continues. Contemporary metalsmiths embrace it all: from the oldest traditions of process and material to the newest technologies in jewelry, holloware, architectural and sculptural design.
Everything that you find here has been made by hand in my Seattle studio: hand forged, hand fabricated, hand carved, cast and hand designed. Custom jewelry or commissioned artwork, steel or sterling, bronze, gold, wood or plastic; ring, earring and neckpiece: it all begins and ends with the hand.
I hope that you'll consider this site a gallery window and visit often.
